Porto Business School and Privacy Talks organise, on the 25th of February, starting at 2 pm, the seminar: "Why Privacy Matters". This session aims to bring together national and international experts, from the most diverse angles of activity, to discuss and debate the importance of privacy and data protection in a world where data is the engine of economic and technological development on this Economy 4.0.
Citizens are increasingly connected, using more and more devices, and constantly share information online, whether on social networks, search engines, e-commerce, apps or even interacting with online public services. All of this data is being collected continuously by device manufacturers, desktop and mobile applications, internet service providers and telecom operators, for their own purposes or to sell to other companies.
The European Union has sought to regulate the collection and processing of personal data, and the entry into force of the GDPR has motivated a healthy process of strategic reflection in organizations, in order to adopt "Privacy By Default" information systems.
How can we strike a balance between the obvious advantages and benefits that technology gives us through access to our data and the limits of privacy and invasion of the private sphere of citizens?
