Startup founded by alumni of Porto Business School was the first acquisition of Maersk in Portugal.
Tiago Paiva, CEO of Huub and alumni of the Post-Graduation in Business Intelligence & Analytics at Porto Business School, will lead this new business unit of the Maersk group, along with the other founders.
Although the transaction values are not public, it is advanced that the three acquisitions Maersk recently formalized in the sector reflect an investment of one billion dollars.
The acquisition of the Portuguese startup symbolizes a new milestone in a partnership that started in 2019, when Maersk invested 1.5 billion euros in Huub; the one that was the logistics giant’s first investment in a Portuguese startup.
Tiago Paiva highlighted the acquisition of Huub by Maersk, considered one of the hundred most influential in the world, “is a tonic for the startup ecosystem in Portugal”. In turn, Vincent Clerc, Executive Vice president of the Maersk Group, says that “with this acquisition, we have endowed the Organization with world-class technological talent”.
