Doctoral and Junior Faculty Consortium helps participants create career plans based on personal and professional goals
Porto Business School hosted the Doctoral and Junior Faculty Consortium (DJFC) this Wednesday, October 2nd, an event aimed at supporting PhD students and early-career researchers in the fields of Business, Management, and Information Systems. The goal was to help them develop strategies for their research, dissertations, teaching, and career plans, all based on their personal and professional goals. The initiative also provided networking opportunities with peers and faculty members from universities around the world.
The event featured keynote speeches by Izak Benbasat, a professor at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, Canada, and Nancy Pouloudi, a professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, who shared insights on academic career aspirations and dynamics.
Two panels were held, featuring PhD students and junior faculty members, followed by coaching sessions in collaboration with mentors from various business schools worldwide, organized in a roundtable format. In addition to Izak Benbasat and Nancy Pouloudi, notable participants included Henrique O'Neill from ISCTE, Tawfiq Alashoor from IESE Business School, Christian Meske from Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, Alvaro Arenas from IE Business School, Spain, Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar from University of Maribor Slovenia, and Illias Pappas from Norwegian Univesity of Science and Technology, Norway.
