The School joins the Portuguese Association for Diversity and Inclusion and also celebrates a collaboration agreement with Porto Pride
On this International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia, and Interphobia (IDAHOT), Porto Business School reaffirms its unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by joining the Portuguese Association for Diversity and Inclusion (APPDI). As part of this collaboration, the University of Porto’s business school will soon sign the Mission Letter for Diversity, an initiative promoted by the European Commission.
In the same spirit of promoting inclusion and respect for diversity, Porto Business School has also celebrated a collaboration agreement with Porto Pride, the largest and oldest Pride event in northern Portugal. This strategic partnership is a significant milestone, making Porto Business School the first business school in Portugal to formalize an alliance with a Pride event.
José Esteves, dean of Porto Business School, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: "At Porto Business School, we believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental pillars for innovation and business success. Signing the Mission Letter for Diversity and collaborating with Porto Pride are natural steps in our ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone."
Patrícia Teixeira Lopes, vice-dean of Porto Business School, also highlights the relevance of this commitment: "Diversity is a force that drives creativity and innovation. We are determined to promote a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. These agreements are a clear expression of our dedication to leading by example."
Diogo Vieira da Silva, general coordinator of Porto Pride, comments on the partnership, stating that "companies still represent the biggest 'closet' in Portugal." He continues, "It is crucial for renowned institutions like Porto Business School to make public and concrete statements in favor of diversity and inclusion. This is even more significant this year, as European Prides will gather in Porto in November, and one year before EuroPride in Portugal, which will bring more than half a million people to our country. Porto Business School's stance, therefore, gains even greater relevance."
Porto Business School continues to lead by example, promoting values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and invites other organizations to join this essential mission for a fairer and more equal future.
