The Corporate Start-up Programme is the latest initiative from Porto Business School, the business school of the University of Porto, which aims to provide companies and startups with guidance on how they can work together to boost innovation at Organisations.
Supported by a "Partner, Build, Buy or Invest" approach and based on a "learning by doing" experience using the most modern concepts and methodologies on the market, the Corporate Start-up Programme will feature guest experts from Europe and the USA for a unique hands-on learning process.
The programme will focus on the themes of Biotechnology, Decarbonisation, Climate Change, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), Agrotechs and other adjacent themes, with a special focus on the "pains", opportunities, and challenges for companies in these fields of work, with solutions that involve the themes of Sustainability and ESG, which are increasingly prevalent in any organisation.
A unique training programme in Portugal
The programme will run in a hybrid format for nine weeks, starting on 4 September. At that stage, selected companies and start-ups will begin a learning path, completely free of charge, which will end on 3 November - in total, they will complete ten hours a week and five hours of autonomous learning, with materials suggested by the lecturers.
On the corporate side, the programme is aimed at a multidisciplinary team made up of a maximum of five and a minimum of two participants per company, including profiles such as:
• Innovation Directors and their teams.
• Strategy Directors and their teams.
• Product Development Directors and their teams.
• Finance Directors and their teams.
• Sustainability or ESG Directors and their teams.
• Marketing Directors and their teams.
• Digital Transformation Directors and their teams.
From the point of view of start-ups, the programme is aimed at a team of two to three people per start-up, with at least one co-founder or executive, and they must work in the field of Biotechnology, Decarbonisation, Climate Change, Nature-based solutions, Agrotechs, and other related topics.
Everything starts with a spark!
The Corporate Start-up Programme was created to disrupt the traditional education model by linking companies to start-ups, and is available to organisations of national, European and international size, as well as start-ups focused on sustainability.
This training programme, one of a kind in Portugal, has the support and co-funding of the BIOPOLIS Norte 2020 project, which works on the themes of the environment, biodiversity and agriculture, genetics, environmental biology, ecosystem research and agrobiodiversity.
