Sandra Santos, CEO of BA Group and Alumna of Porto Business School, is the winner of the BPI Woman Entrepreneur Award 2021.
The BPI Woman Entrepreneur Award 2021 is a result of the collaboration between CaixaBank, the only shareholder of BPI, and IWEC (International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation), an international network of successful female entrepreneurs.
This Award intends to acknowledge the talent and professional excellency of Portuguese women who stand out for their professional journey, leadership, strategic vision, and innovation skills.
It also recognizes the company’s active role regarding sustainability, through the formalization of “Oporto Agreement” and the launch, through BPI/ CaixaBank, of a sustainable financing operation of 75 million euros associated with ESG indicators, among others.
Sandra Santos, winner of the Award BPI Woman Entrepreneur 2021, holds a degree in Management from the Faculty of Economics of Porto and, in 1999, concluded an MBA in Porto Business School. It was also in that year that Sandra Santos began her career in the industry, joining BA Glass (at the time, Barbosa & Almeida), a producer of glass packaging.
Since 2014, Sandra Santos leads, as CEO, the Executive Committee of BA Glass, one of the largest producers of glass containers for the food and beverage industries. Annually BA Glass produces eight billion bottles and exports to over 70 countries. BA Glass has 3800 employees spread over 12 factories in 7 countries (Portugal, Spain, Poland, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania). the sales volume is around 950 million euros.
For Sandra Santos, this Award represents “the recognition of the merit of a career and of my role, together with many others, in the growth and transformation of a predominantly Iberian business into a multinational and multicultural organization”.
