Redefining Modern Luxury Through Diversity and Inclusion
Luxury, as a sociological phenomenon, has evolved alongside society and is now undergoing a significant transformation. New generations of consumers, with values and lifestyles that differ from those of their parents and grandparents, are seeking a luxury that reflects these changes, driven by new values and codes.
In addition to technology, phygital environments, experiences, and sustainability, diversity and inclusion have become key elements of the 9 codes of Modern Luxury. Millennials and Generation Z expect luxury brands to be more inclusive and embrace diversity in their practices.
Recently, CHANEL created the position of Director of Diversity and Inclusion and appointed an English woman to lead this initiative, tasking her with developing and implementing an action plan in this area.
Diversity in Luxury, a London-based organization, is dedicated to promoting the new codes of Modern Luxury and fostering positive change in the luxury sector, with a particular focus on diversity and inclusion.
This organization has identified the 100 most influential global leaders in the luxury sector who are driving the promotion of these new values.
Alongside names like Miuccia Prada, Carolina Herrera, the CEOs of Chanel, Dior, Boucheron, and Jumeirah Hotels, the Director of External Relations at Hermès, the President of the Luxury Institute in New York, and the Co-President of Chopard, there are three Portuguese individuals on the Diversity in Luxury Leaders List 100, one of whom is a proud alumnus of Porto Business School - António Paraíso.
