Porto Business School promotes Blue Bio Value Ideation 2023, an initiative in partnership with Oceano Azul Foundation and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Blue Bio Value Ideation aims to bringing ocean-based, sustainable solutions for a new, blue bioeconomy, by scaling up marine bio-based projects and ideas, fostering science-based and biotech innovations that design a better world, by allowing the decoupling of raw materials from natural resources, and (or) replacing high carbon emissions-solutions by low, neutral, or even, negative ones.
For the 2023 edition, we are looking for business mentors who support the transformation of early-stage technologies into viable business solutions. Preferably, they should have:
» Background in the areas of Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship;
» Eagerness to gain or develop experience in startup a high-tech impactful venture;
» Motivation to work in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and/or in the blue bioeconomy area;
» Availability to guide and mentor the STEM members of the team during and after the ideation session;
» Previous relevant professional experience (preferably).
The business mentors can apply here until September 16, and they will have the opportunity to:
» Be part of the transfer of technology and knowledge from Universities and Research Centers to the market;
» Be part of the process of creating startups dedicated to the blue bioeconomy;
» Be part of a pioneer sector in Portugal;
» Develop entrepreneurial leaders.
Ceramics made from fish scales, biodegradable plastics created with bones and fish processing leftovers or cosmetics with active compounds extracted from algae are some examples of sustainable solutions the Oceano Azul Foundation and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation have already promoted through the Blue Bio Value Ideation programme.
