Duarte Abrunhosa e Sousa
Duarte Abrunhosa e Sousa (PhD - University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain; LLM and BA - University of Porto, Portugal) is a Portuguese researcher at the Center for Legal Research - Faculty of Law, University of Porto. Duarte is also a licensed attorney with experience in Portuguese courts and the European Court of Justice. He is the author of several academic articles published in various countries, including Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the UK, Poland, Lithuania, Brazil, Uruguay and the US. Duarte's research areas include labor law and social security, and he has participated in various national and European projects for the European Commission, the European Trade Union Institute, and other institutions.
Duarte has taught at various universities and institutions in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Mozambique and Argentina. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Duarte is a member of the Executive Committee of the CIELO Laboral Network and Coordinator of the Portuguese Section of the Young Scholars Section of the ISLSSL. He is also a member of APODIT. Last year he was guest editor of the Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal (University of Illinois) for an issue on non-competes. This issue featured a collection of articles by leading scholars on the subject from the US, UK, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Lithuania.
