Fernando Lopes
Fernando Lopes has a degree in Management and IT at ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon). His career has been dedicated to management, consulting and entrepreneurship in IT and Health businesses.
He started his IT career in 1991 at Adetti, university company run by ISCTE’s professors, and started teaching, still as a student, in 1993 at ISCTE.
In 1994 he joined Ednfor (EDP group), in which for 10 years he was consultant, project manager and managing director, working in Portugal and Brazil and having been in charge of new Porto’s office setup and a Spanish subsidiary.
In 2004 he co-founded Abaco Consultores (now Abaco Consulting) dedicated to ERP SAP implementation. This company grew to more than 200 employees, with offices at Porto, Lisbon, Sao Paulo, London and Geneve; it was recently acquired by a German IT group. In this Company, he was consultant, project manager, CEO, head on innovation; as head of International business he lead the creation of London and Geneve offices and business in these countries.
In 2020 he left Abaco and started 3 new businesses, inSIGHT in and out of the box (consulting), Safemed (software) and Frejen (IT services). Simultaneously he restarted his professor path in Universidade do Minho and ISCAP.
He accumulates with non-profit positions as VP for Communication at Clube Desportivo Feirense, a top-30 Portuguese sports club and as member of Board of AETICE, an Association of IT companies. He also owns Cambravida, a Health and Safety services provider.
