My passion for science and exploration started at a young age, fueled by my childhood dream of becoming an astronaut and exploring the galaxy. I pursued this passion by studying mechanical engineering, in Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, from where I graduated in 2004 with a Master's degree. Eventually, I co-founded a Luso-German Company that would produce the thermal insulation for a Mars landing mission.
During my time at the company, I honed my skills as a project manager, systems engineer, human resources manager, and mediator of conflicts. This experience taught me the importance of effective leadership and collaboration in complex environments.
However, my interests eventually expanded beyond space exploration and towards the complex problems created by human systems, such as climate change, conflicts, and social polarization. This led me to deepen my studies in the theory of Complexity and Chaos, and to engage with the interdisciplinary field of network governance.
Today, I work as a consultant in this field, using complex science and network theory to help address major social issues such as peacebuilding and climate change. I use complex adaptive systems modeling tools, train and monitor systemic leaders, survey and analyze complex social networks, and deliver lectures and workshops on network governance.
I have attended a permaculture course and I have visited twice one of the most radical sustainability schools in the world, Schumacher College, in the United Kingdom, from where I am certified in Organizational Leadership and Facilitation. In january 2023, I concluded my certification in Coaching from the International Association of Coaches Therapists and Mentors.
In addition to my work, I also engage in personal practices that complement my studies and research, including dancing Argentine tango, practicing Wing Chun, Transpersonal Psychology. These interests allow me to maintain a holistic perspective on life and bring balance to my intellectual pursuits.
