Pedro Coelho dos Santos
Master in Information Warfare/Competitive Intelligence from Academia Militar. Degree in Communication Sciences, specializing in Journalism.
He is one of the leading figures in media crisis management in Portugal. Throughout his professional career, he has also specialized in the areas of Communication, Strategy and Public Affairs.
In recent years he has carried out an intense professional activity as a communication and media crisis management consultant with various institutions, with special emphasis on the areas of the pharmaceutical industry, banking and the associative sector. He was responsible for Communication in several leading institutions in the health sector: National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge, Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Tagus Valley and National Institute of Medical Emergency.
He was also a communication consultant for the Directorate-General for Health. Still in the field of press relations, he was Deputy for the media of the Minister of Health of the XIV Constitutional Government.
In the field of political activity - one of his great passions along with Communication - he was deputy to the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party in the Assembly of the Republic and Head of the Office of the Deputy Secretary General of the Socialist Party. He was also councilor, without executive functions, in the small municipality of Sobral de Monte Agraço, where he lives.
He began his professional career in journalism, having worked for the daily newspaper “Público”, the weekly newspaper “Euronotícias” and the weekly magazine “Focus”, in the editorial area of economics. This professional experience in the area of journalism was fundamental for the various functions he later performed in the areas of institutional and political communication advice.
In the academic field, he has collaborated with several institutions, teaching in Bachelors, Masters and Postgraduate courses. He has written several opinion articles in newspapers and magazines, both on issues related to Communication and on current political issues.
