Francisco João Anastácio Duarte
Electromechanical engineer, inventor, and scientist, I'm passionate about innovation, technology, and product development. Also, as an entrepreneur, I'm driven by business and startup development. My key areas of research are renewable energy, energy harvesting, energy storage, road safety, smart cities, and sustainable mobility.
I've concluded my PhD in Transportation Systems, in the MIT Portugal Program (through the University of Coimbra), where I've developed a new technology to convert vehicles' mechanical energy into electrical energy, with the possibility of storing it and consuming it where and when it is needed. The same solution also promotes road safety in a unique way, contributing to safer, smarter, and more sustainable cities.
Based on my PhD studies, I've launched Pavnext, a Portuguese startup that develops solutions to promote Safer, Smarter, and Sustainable Cities, through a unique technology that reduces vehicle speed without any driver action, generates clean electrical energy, and monitors multiple data to generate reports and adjust the energy consumption in the urban space to the real needs.
