Marta Coelho
Graduated in Economics and Master's Degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto. Doctor of Philosophy in Behavioral Economics by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), 2004. Since 2004 she has been a staff member at LSE. Between 2004 and 2014 she was responsible for the Negotiation course and made it a reference course at LSE. Since 2017, she has been a member of staff of the “Oxford Programme on Negotiation” (OPN), an executive programme from the University of Oxford, Said Business School. In OPN she is also a coach to senior executives from profit and non-profit organizations. Since 2021 Marta is an Associate Fellow of the University of Oxford, Said Business School. In terms of research, she is essentially dedicated to the study of excessive optimism and excessive confidence of economic agents and implications of such deviations for economic decision making. The themes of her research are central themes in the area of Behavioral Economics as evidenced by the reference to her work by the Nobel Prize in Economics, Daniel Kahneman, in his book “Thinking Fast and Slow”. In addition to teaching and research, she also performs consulting functions. Among other consulting functions, she participated in studies on price reform in the pharmaceutical industry in Portugal and studies of regional economic development. Marta is a Certified Coach by Henley Business School (accredited by ICF, AC and EMCC) and has proven experience in executive coaching (namely in the areas of negotiation and influence). Marta is a Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of the world group leader in the cork industry (Corticeira Amorim), where she is also Chairwoman of the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) committee and a Member of the Audit Committee.
