Rui Costa is the Chief Architect of Nexar, a leading company in AI vision for future mobility. Previously serving as the CTO of intelligent networking startup Veniam (acquired by Nexar), Rui Costa combines deep technical knowledge with extensive business experience in the field of AI systems and products. Beyond developing and implementing advanced technologies and market ready products, he spearheaded the establishment of Veniam's North American operations as the Managing Director, playing a pivotal role in expanding the market and forging key product partnerships, particularly in the automotive space. As CTO, Rui Costa played a key role in designing and delivering the company's unique intelligent networking platform for connected vehicles and the Internet of Moving Things.
In addition to his industry achievements, Rui Costa, holds a Master’s degree in Network and Communications Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, and made significant contributions to the academic community as the Founder and Coordinator of IEEE Academic. This student-driven, multilingual online educational resource has empowered thousands of learners worldwide, providing them with invaluable educational content and fostering global collaboration. Rui is the main author of 16 international patents, a blackbelt in Judo with 27 years of practice. In addition to his role at Nexar, Rui also advises companies in achieving engineering excellence plus implementing AI in their products and organisations.
