Luis Tomé
Full Professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa where he is currently Director of the International Relations Department, Director of the OBSERVARE and coordinator of the PhD in International Relations: Geopolitics and Geoeconomy.
Guest Professor at the National Defence Institute (IDN), the Military University Institute (IUM), the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI) and Visiting Professor at La Sapienza-Universitá di Roma, Italy and Middle East Technical University (METU) of Ankara-Turkey.
He was Assistant/Technician Specialist for International Relations and Counter-Terrorism in the Office of the Minister of the Interior between November 2015 and October 2017; Advisor to the Vice-President of the European Parliament during the 1999-2004 legislature; and NATO-EAPC Researcher for two years (preparing the report “Russia and NATO’s Enlargement”, 2000).
Researcher in the areas of International Relations, Geopolitics and Security Studies specialising in the Euro-Atlantic, Eurasian and Asia-Pacific regions, he is the author and co-author of more than a dozen books and numerous essays and articles published in specialist journals.
He has been a regular speaker at high-level conferences and workshops, and a regular commentator on security and international politics at the media.
He has a degree in International Relations from the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL), a Master’s Degree in Strategy from ISCSP of the then Technical University of Lisbon and a PhD in International Relations from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC).
