João Meneses
João Wengorovius Meneses holds a Master's Degree in "Development, Local Diversities and Global Challenges" from ISCTE-IUL, a degree in Management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the Portuguese Institute of Marketing Administration, and has attended several courses for executives in the area of non-profit organizations management in the US and France. After a brief spell in the private sector, he held management positions at the Chapitô association and at the NGO TESE, which operates in Portugal and Africa. After these two experiences in the third sector, João moved to the public sector. At the Lisbon City Council, he was Municipal Director of Social Action, coordinated the Mouraria Priority Intervention Neighborhood Support Office and directed the Mouraria Innovation Center. He was also Secretary of State for Youth and Sports of the XXI Constitutional Government of the Portuguese Republic. Simultaneously, he has been a guest professor at ISCTE-IUL, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and at Porto Business School. He is the author of the book O Peixe Amarelo – pistas para um mundo melhor, a compilation of chronicles he wrote for the Diário Económico newspaper, and co-author of the book Gerir Organizações Sem Fins Lucrativos– o desafio da inovação social.
