Vasco Ribeiro
Vasco Ribeiro has a PhD in Communication Sciences from University of Minho, a Masters from the University of Porto Faculty of Letters and a Degree in Journalism from the Journalism School of Porto.
University professor and researcher at the University of Porto, since 2001, he has been a lecturer of “Communication Strategies”, “Journalism Studies”, “Political Communication”, “Public Relations”, and “Media Relations”. He also teaches “Content for Media” at the Porto Business School, “Press Advisory” at Porto’s Superior School of Journalism and “Public Relations” at the Higher Institute of Administration and Management.
He is the author of the book “Sophisticated Information Sources” (2006), published by Media XXI. Has published various articles in academic and scientific Portuguese journals in the information sources area and spin doctoring.
Professionally, he was coordinator of the Press Office for the Governing Party’s Parliament Bench and adviser to the parliamentary leader. He has both participated and coordinated a number of political campaigns, at local and electoral circle levels.
He initiated his professional career in communication as press advisor for the Young Entrepreneurs National Association in 1996, where he was responsible for media promotion of Portugal Fashion. He was Head of Communication for Normetro (1998) and for the University of Porto (2002). He also lead the Press Office for the Porto City Hall and he was press adviser for the then Mayor (1998-2001).
He is also responsible for developing communication consultation strategies to a number of companies, private and public institutions across the country.
